You Can Walk, Run, or Stroll Your Way Through Our Virtual Run for Ryan House

Not sure about the ins and outs of a virtual run? No problem! We’ve compiled a list of FAQs just for YOU!

What is a virtual run – you ask?

Virtual runs happen on your own schedule. When you sign up for our virtual Run for Ryan House, you simply record your time as you run or walk in your neighborhood, on a treadmill, or in a park (really anywhere you want) any time during our race period, which is November 15 – 22.

Who can run in a virtual race?

Anyone! One of the great things about virtual races is that they allow for participation from different parts of the country and anywhere in the world.  All levels of runners are encouraged to sign up because participants can choose to walk, run, stroll, or even cycle through their race.

How do I help raise money for Ryan House as a virtual participant?

There are three easy ways to support Ryan House as a virtual participant.

  1. Register for our event!
  2. Recruit other friends and family to register too! And, since it’s virtual, you can invite people worldwide to join in the fun!
  3. Take it one step further and establish a fundraising goal for yourself or you can even build a team! Simply make a selection under the “Teams” section when you register by either creating a new team or joining someone else’s team that’s already established. Then simply invite people to support your goals using the Donate to Participant tab on the Race Roster site. Share that you are running on social media!

If it’s virtual, can we still compete with one another?

For those who enjoy a little healthy competition, our partners at Race Roster and the RunKeeper app, have developed a way for you to accurately track your run and report your time. No more “trusting” that everyone is running or walking the same distance – now it is done automatically. That means that we can give out awards with the confidence that everyone is playing by the same rules.

To be eligible for Age Group awards you will have to track your run using the RunKeeper app. As a registered participant, you will receive an email on Monday, Nov. 9 with a link to use to track your run. Once you reach your distance your results/time will automatically be uploaded to our Results page!

You will have eight days to complete your run (November 15 – 22). Awards will be mailed out along with your custom T-shirt and medal the week of November 23!

You can see that our 2020 Virtual Run for Ryan House is a great way to get outside and spend quality time together as a family. Or, if you’ve already had too much quality time together (between remote learning and quarantining to name a few) our virtual run offers you some great “me” time while raising funds for the children with life-limiting conditions and families we serve.
