Madi

Ryan House is an amazing place for babies, toddlers, children, teens, and even for parents. Ryan House is a place of dreams for me, and all kids I’ve made friends with there. My name is Madi and I have an amazing story of my time at Ryan House.

Ryan House is a place for kids eighteen and under that have incurable conditions. I have something called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). I got diagnosed with this when I was three. SMA also could give you scoliosis, which I have as well.

You can imagine how hard it is to take care of me. Well, at Ryan House they treat me as if I was their own child. They’ll do anything for me when I need it. The staff there still knows how to have fun and throw some parties, I’m a big party thrower.

Now let me tell you a little bit about my time there. I love fashion so the volunteers and staff throw fashion shows, or mini parades with me. I like to cook some odd family recipes, like cottage cheese pancakes, which I don’t think the volunteer Derek is to fond of. One of the best times I’ve had is when I challenged a staff member, Gracen, too drink ten Capri Suns in ten minutes. He did it I about half that time but I think I ruined Capri Suns for him. Three of my closest friends Ryan, Destiny, and Alissa all like to make forts, maybe do some minor pranks, and joke around with the staff. I’m also an animal lover, I love every dog, cat, bunny, horse, and all the other amazing creatures that walk, crawl, hop, or gallop into the Ryan House.

Ryan House is a place to get away from my family, although I love them, everyone knows you’ve just got to take a break for a few days. The volunteers are up for anything, some will teach you how to play the game chicken or clue, and others will paint or build with you.

The Arizona Rattlers players come to visit and hang out with you. Since they’re so tough I thought I’d do their hair, makeup, nails, and dress them up just to see how they’d react. One of the most memorable players that came was Tyson. He had long hair so we did a fishtail on him. We did his eye shadow color with a beautiful dark sparkly blue, along with his nails. We finally had to put a finishing touch so we gave him a tutu and a wand to make him a beautiful fairy. I’ll never forget that crazy day.

My time at Ryan House is amazing, I will never forget my crazy adventures with all the crazy loving people. I have many thanks to all the people that care for me and I’ll always stick around to bug you.
