Ryan House provides critical care for kids; supports parents

Lindsey Bartlett drops her daughter Aubrey off for a day or two every month.  She has three children.  Aubrey was born with a rare disease and needs care 24/7.

“It’s a place Aubrey can come that she loves.  She is well taken care of and it’s really became like a family for her,” said Lindsey.

And it gives Lindsey a chance to spend time with her husband and two other children.

“Not every situation is easy for  for Aubrey to go along with and so we’ve utilize it.. took my son to Lego Land.. just spending that quality  time with him, that’s difficult to do,” she said.

Ryan House has everything Aubrey needs, but it’s mom that takes Aubrey to her weekly therapy sessions and doctor visits.

“We try to take advantage so mommy gets a break,” said Lindsey.

Aubrey can spend 28 days here a year.  Parents can stay too.  This is like a second family for all the kids with life-threatening conditions.

The playground is accessible to all the kids and that’s one reason parents like it so much.

And it’s also a great place with the kids who come here.  They have music and swimming and someone who watches them around the clock.

“There’s an opportunity for mom and dad and the child to have special memories,” said Nancy Flores.

Ryan House is a non-profit organization that helps families with children with needs.  It’s not only a respite, it’s also a hospice for kids.
