Five years ago the Chait family courageously started the Paul Gavin Chait (PGC) event, benefitting Ryan House, to celebrate the life of Paul Chait.  At just 33-years-old, Paul was a devoted father, husband, son, brother and uncle.  Friend to all, stranger to only those he had yet to meet, Paul grew up in Phoenix, graduated from Chaparral High School and the University of Arizona.  On April 27, 2004, Paul’s life was cut tragically short when he was shot and killed in a senseless act of violence by a high school friend, high on drugs. 

We ask you to open your minds and your hearts to learn more about Ryan House and celebrate a truly brave and good human, Paul Gavin Chait. The evening will showcase local food trucks that would delight even the lollipop gang, a local band, raffle and auction that is sure to impress even the great and powerful OZ!

Paul Gavin Chait

Paul had the gift of making everyone around him smile.  He was genuinely interested in what other people had to say, was unassuming, kind, caring and admired by so many.  One of the highest compliments Paul bestowed on those he loved was to say they were “a good human.”  Paul always saw the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, believed in happy endings and thought there really was no place like home. While suffering from a profound loss, the Chait family searched for a way to move forward and honor the best human they knew, Paul.

Shorty after Paul’s death the Chait family learned of Ryan House, a one-of-a-kind facility that provides respite and palliative care to Arizona children with life-limiting conditions and end-of-life care, as needed. At Ryan House families can entrust their children to the professional staff at Ryan House and take a short break from the 24/7 care their medically fragile child requires.  Ryan House was in the blueprint stage when the 1st Annual Paul Gavin Chait Memorial Event was held in 2007 and raised $50,000 for children in need.  Over the past five years, the event has raised more than $300,000.  With your help, this year we hope to raise $200,000 to support families who often feel isolated from the rest of the world, to find some peace and comfort at Ryan House. Because home really is where the heart is the sanctuary room at Ryan House is named in Paul’s honor.

Ryan House and CoBiz Financial and its family of companies – Arizona Business Bank, CoBiz Insurance, CoBiz Wealth Management and Green Manning & Bunch – invite you to the Biz Bash on Thursday, October 6. This annual concert fundraiser will feature Loverboy at the Venue of Scottsdale. All proceeds will benefit the children and families of Ryan House.

Music:  Canadian rock band “Loverboy.”

Time: Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; band scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m.
