Local Interior Design Studio Brings The Only Outside Skating Rink to Scottsdale

Palavela Home Brings Icy Fun to the Valley of the Sun to Benefit Local Charities

(GREATER PHOENIX, Ariz.) – Palavela Home, a local interior design store created by former ice skating Olympian Ryan O’Meara, is bringing a skating rink outside of their doors in downtown Scottsdale this December. The 30×40 square foot skating rink, which can accommodate 40 people at a time, will sit outside of Palavela Home starting Thursday, December 2 and will stay open to the public through December 31, although the rink will be closed December 23-25. The cost will be $15 per person which includes a 45 minute skating session and skate rentals.

Each week, Palavela Home will donate 15% of the monies raised to their respective non-profits. Each organization will also receive a free three hour skating session for their supporters during their week.

December 2-8: Homeward Bound
December 9-15: Southwest Center for HIV and AIDS
December 16-22: ALS Association of Arizona
December 23-31: Ryan House (Rink will be open 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Dec. 23 and Dec. 26 – 30; hours on December 24 and now added December 31 will be 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  The rink will be closed December 25.)

Palavela Home, with the help of High Note Productions, will be bringing in professional and amateur ice shows to the rink for onlookers to watch for free. Skating shows will include skaters from the Ice Den, performing each Thursday evening in December during the Art Walk and also each Saturday in December during the afternoon hours. Onlookers can expect to see local skaters, group numbers and solo skating. Palavela Home owner Ryan O’Meara will also be performing with his skating partner Emily Nussear for a special show.

O’Meara, realized the need for a fun outdoor activity to bring families and friends together. “I am excited to share my enthusiasm for skating with the Valley community,” says O’Meara. “It’s such a great way for families to spend time together while supporting great local causes.”

The only outside skating rink in Phoenix is made of synthetic ice which is a “greener” choice for the Valley of the Sun. The synthetic ice surface allows the skate blades to glide as smoothly as they do on real ice, but without the cost of refrigeration or maintenance.
